true worship
Worship - Spirit and Truth
True worship is God-centered worship. People tend to get caught up in where they should worship, what music they should sing in worship, and how the worship looks to other people. Focusing on these things completely misses the point. Jesus tells us that true worshipers will worship God in spirit and in truth (John 4:24). This means we worship from a pure heart!

Worship - The Heart of the Matter
Worship can include praying, reading God’s Word with an open heart, singing, participating in communion, and serving others. It’s not limited to one act, but is done properly when the heart and attitude of the person is in the right place.
Worship and praise are reserved only for God. Only He is worthy; not any of his servants (Revelation 19:10). We are not to worship saints, prophets, statues, idols, angels, or any other false gods. We shouldn’t worship for the expectation of something in return, such as a miraculous healing. Worship is done for God, and God’s pleasure alone! Worship can be public praise to God (Psalm 22:22, 35:18), in a congregational setting, where we can proclaim through music and praise our adoration and thankfulness to Him and what He has done for us. True worship is felt inwardly, and then comes out through our actions. “Going through the motions” out of obligation is unpleasing to God, and is done completely in vain. He can see through all the hypocrisy, and He hates heartless worship (Amos 5:21-24). A powerful example of this is the story of Cain and Abel, the first sons of Adam and Eve. They both brought gift offerings to the Lord, but He was only pleased with Abel’s. Cain brought the gift out of obligation. Abel brought his finest lambs from his flock out of true faith and admiration for God.

Worship - The Heart of David
As far as worship, King David was a phenomenal example for all of us. He had a pure and grateful heart towards God and worshipped Him with the entirety of his being. Many of the Psalms reflect David’s passionate heart for worship. “It is good to give thanks to the LORD, And to sing praises to Your name, O Most High; To declare Your loving kindness in the morning, And Your faithfulness every night” (Psalm 92:1-2). I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised… (Psalm 18:3a). Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; and his greatness is unsearchable (Psalm 145:3). David was a man after God’s own heart, because he truly glorified God in his heart!

Worship - Glorify and Exalt God!
True worship is not confined to singing in church or open praise (although these things are both good and we are told to do them in the Bible), but it is the heartfelt acknowledgment of God and all His power and glory in the things we do. To truly worship God, we must know Him and not be ignorant of His good and glorious nature (Acts 17:23). In a nutshell, worship is to glorify and exalt God; to show our loyalty and admiration to our Heavenly Father!

Living Sacrifice - A Biblical Truth
As Christians, we’re called to give ourselves to God as a “living sacrifice.” The Apostle Paul helps us understand this truth in his letter to the believers in Rome:
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. (Romans 12:1-2)

Living Sacrifice - Dying to Self
So, how do we truly present ourselves to God as a living sacrifice? In a nutshell, we must die to our prior selves. This concept is wonderfully presented in this anonymous poem…
When you are forgotten, neglected, or purposely set at naught, and you don’t sting or hurt with the oversight, but your heart is happy being counted worthy to suffer for Christ;
-
That is dying to self.
When your good is evil spoken of, when your wishes are crossed, your advice disregarded, your opinion ridiculed, and you refuse to let anger rise in your heart or even defend yourself, but take it all in patient, loving silence;
- That is dying to self.
When you lovingly and patiently bear any disorder, any irregularity, any annoyance; when you can stand face to face with waste, folly, extravagance, spiritual insensibility, and endure it as Jesus did;
- That is dying to self.
When you are content with any food, and offering, any raiment, any climate, any society, any solitude, any interruption by the will of God;
- That is dying to self.
When you never care to refer to yourself in conversation or record your own good works or itch after commendation, when you can truly love to be unknown;
- That is dying to self.
When you can see your brother prosper and have his needs met, and can honestly rejoice with him in spirit and feel no envy, nor question God, while your own needs are far greater and you are in desperate circumstances;
- That is dying to self.
When you can receive correction and reproof from one of less stature than yourself and can humbly submit, inwardly as well as outwardly, finding no rebellion or resentment rising up within your heart;
- That is dying to self.
Homosexuality 101
.
1. What was God’s intention for human sexual relationships at Creation?
Genesis 1:27-28; 2:18, 23-24 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”
The LORD God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.” The man said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ‘woman,’ for she was taken out of man.” For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh.
2. What played a big factor in the destruction of Sodom?
Genesis 19:4-9 Before they [the angels visiting Lot to judge the wickedness of Sodom and determine whether or not to spare it] had gone to bed, all the men from every part of the city of Sodom-both young and old-surrounded the house.
They called to Lot, “Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us so that we can have sex with them [lit., ‘so we may know them’].”
Lot went outside to meet them… and said, “No, my friends. Don’t do this wicked thing. Look, I have two daughters who have never slept with a man. Let me bring them out to you, and you can do what you like with them. But don’t do anything to these men… .” …And they said, “We’ll treat you worse than them.”
3. Under Levitical Law, what was one of many abominable practices punishable by death?
Leviticus 18:22; 20:13 Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable [or, ‘an abomination’]. If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable [or, ‘an abomination’]. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.
4. How does the apostle Paul view homosexuality?
Romans 1:26-27 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.
5. According to the Bible will homosexual offenders inherit the kingdom of God?
1 Corinthians 6:9-10 (see also 1 Timothy 1:9-10)
1 Cor 6:9-10 Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.
6. Does this mean God does not love homosexuals?
Not at all. God loves homosexuals.
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” NIV
The text does not say Christians. It says the world, which includes homosexuals! God loved homosexuals so much that “He gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” That includes you.
Does this mean God does not mind the practice of homosexuality?
Not at all! He abhors it! Does this make Him love this people any less? Not at all. When my son ignores my guidance and deliberately disobey me, I feel very sad, even sometimes mad. But it does not make me love him any less! So is it with God. He loves you my friend, but you can grieve Him by your actions.
7. Is there any hope for homosexuals?
Luke 19:10 For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost.”
Luke 5:31-32 “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”
1 Cor 6:9-11 Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
Jesus can give you victory over your sins. He has not abandoned to your own lot. Power is available to any one of us through His Holy Spirit.
8. What do you need to do to claim Jesus’ promise of victory over our sins?
First acknowledge your sin. Psalm 51:2-4
“Oh, wash me, cleanse me from this guilt. Let me be pure again. For I admit my shameful deed—it haunts me day and night.”
Second, Ask forgiveness for your sin—God says you can start over again.
Psalm 51:7-12:
“Sprinkle me with the cleansing blood and I shall be clean again. Wash me and I shall be whiter than snow. And after You have punished me, give me back my joy again. Don’t keep looking at my sins—erase them from Your sight. Create in me a new, clean heart, O God, filled with clean thoughts and right desires. Don’t toss me aside, banished forever from Your presence. Don’t take Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me again the joy of Your salvation, and make me willing to obey You.”
Third, Believe that God has indeed forgiven you and quit feeling guilty. Psalm 32:1-6, TLB
What happiness for those whose guilt has been forgiven!
What joys when sins are covered over! What relief for those who have confessed their sins and God has cleared their record. There was a time when I wouldn’t admit what a sinner I was. But my dishonesty made me miserable and filled my days with frustration. All day and all night Your hand was heavy on me. My strength evaporated like water on a sunny day until I finally admitted all my sins to You and stopped trying to hide them. I said to myself, ‘I will confess them to the Lord.’ And You forgave me! All my guilt is gone. Now I say that each believer should confess his sins to God when he is aware of them, while there is time to be forgiven. Judgment will not touch him if he does. You are my hiding place from every storm of life; You even keep me from getting into trouble! You surround me with songs of victory.
Fourth, Stop your life of sin:
John 8:10-11
“Jesus straightened up and asked her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?’ ‘No one, sir,’ she said. ‘Then neither do I condemn you,’ Jesus declared. ‘Go now and leave your life of sin.’”
Col 3:5-7
“Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these, the wrath of God is coming. You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived.
9. What will be His reward?”
Col 3:1-4
“Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.”
There is hope, my friends. Homosexuality can be conquered! God is at your disposal. It might not be easy, but then, it isn’t easy to conquer any sin. Alone you would not be able to make it, but God puts Himself at your disposal to help you conquer. Will you let Him into your life today? Now is your chance to be partners with God. Now is your chance to be victorious! Will you accept Him in your life today?
Here is an example of someone who was a homosexual, but thanks to the grace of God obtained victory
Lesbianism is defined as a woman who is sexually attracted to other women, a sin, referred to in Scripture as a shameful lust. Conversely, it also referred to as men who are sexually attracted to other men to have shameful lust.
God is holy, and He detest all sins, including adultery or sex before marriage even with opposite partners. But because of his great love and mercy, he forgives those who will repent of their sins and put their trust in Jesus Christ for eternal life. The love of God is so much that any one found in this type of sin can be forgiven if the person truly repents. The scripture says come unto me all of you who are tired and are heavy laden and I will give you rest. The mercy of God is so abundant.
However, God has provision for every sinful man. See Revelation 21:8. In this passage the above is mentioned as abomination. Sexual sin is a sin again God and against the body. The scripture enjoins all who want to make heaven to flee from it.
For those who would not repent. It is dangerous. See Romans 1:26 “For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet.
Except the above who practice such repent they cannot go to heaven. No sinner will get to heaven. Lesbianism is a sin and is looked at by God as sin. If they will repent even today, there is abundant of mercy from the Lord!
Rev Debo Adeyemo ________________
Homosexualism can be defined as the sexual love of one person for another person of the same gender. It is increasingly being held in our society as acceptable alternative sexual orientation and laws have been passed making it an offence to discriminate against such behaviour. This study will show that God regards such behaviour as an abomination and has fought against it wherever it arises with laws requiring the death penalty, He has destroyed cities where the practice was rampant, and His prophets have foretold that people who participate will not enter into the kingdom of God.
Let us have a look at some of the comments found in the Bible.
Leviticus 18:22-AV Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it [is] abomination.
Leviticus 20:13-AV If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood [shall be] upon them.
The practice of homosexuality was an abomination in God’s sight and was punishable by death. This punishment was carried out under the civil law that God gave to Moses - our current civil laws have been somewhat watered down. This attitude of God has not changed because God does not change. His attitude is the same as it always was. Consider the following passage from the book of Romans. Also, it is an established Bible principle that whenever God speaks of ‘mankind’, He is also referring to ‘womankind’, if a woman is committing the same sinful act as a man then she is equally as guilty. The sin we are talking about is getting sexual gratification from a member of one’s own sex. Women get a specific mention in other texts in case anyone wants to split hairs over this point.
Romans 1:22-AV Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
Romans 1:23-AV And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
Romans 1:24-AV Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
Romans 1:25-AV Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
Romans 1:26-AV For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
Romans 1:27-AV And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet.
Romans 1:28-AV And even as they did not like to retain God in [their] knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
Romans 1:29-AV Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
Romans 1:30-AV Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
Romans 1:31-AV Without understanding, covenant breakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
Romans 1:32-AV Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.
Now that is a rather detailed description of what God thinks of homosexual behaviour. A bit hard to charge Him with sexual discrimination, isn’t it? Consider verse 27. Receiving something into their bodies which was ‘meet’ or which they deserved. Could this be a reference to AIDS? I know some innocent people have the disease but for the most part it is a male homosexual disease. Those who catch the disease through heterosexual activity may also be guilty of a sin against God if they do so outside of marriage.
I mentioned that God has destroyed cities for homosexual wickedness. The cities were Sodom and Gomorrah and they were destroyed with fire. The story is too long to include in this brief study but may be read in Genesis 18 and onwards. Sodom was a beautiful place and well watered but the men of Sodom were wicked exceedingly. The word ‘Sodom’ has been used ever since to describe male homosexuality - Sodomy Sodomite etc. According to the story God spoke to Abraham and told him He was going to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah. Abraham pleaded with God to spare the cities for the sake of good men living there. God said he would spare the cities even for the sake of 10 good men but such could not be found. Eventually only one good man, Lot, a nephew of Abraham could be found. God sent three Angels to warn Lot and tell him to get out of the city. The Angels stayed with Lot the night and the men of Sodom besieged Lot’s house wanting to have sex with the strangers. The Angels struck them blind and after that they wandered blindly still seeking the door of Lot’s house. The next day Lot and his family left the city and God destroyed it. Lot’s wife looked back and was turned into a pillar of salt. Today there is still much salt to be found in the area which includes the Dead Sea.
One of the most unpleasant aspects of homosexuality today is not that it is restricted to those who have nothing to do with the church, but that many within the church are afflicted with it. We have all heard of the conflict over the ordination of homosexual ministers in some churches. The Catholic church has had scandal after scandal involving priests interfering with boys. I heard the Seventh Day Adventist church has 600 homosexual members in Los Angles alone. Anyone who reads their bibles cannot be in any doubt of God’s attitude to the condition. If the churches who represent God to their followers do not take a strong position of opposition then what comes next? Perhaps we will see churches running brothels as a fundraiser - or selling drugs?
Worst of all, churches will lose their relevance and ability to bring salvation to sinners with any degree of credibility. Unlike many who may be able to claim ignorance of God’s attitude to homosexuality, the churches and their members are not among them. Romans 1:32, above has particular relevance to them. Consider also this description of who will NOT be among the saved. In this passage the word ‘dog’ is a term used in the bible to describe a homosexual - the word ‘gay’ had connotations of happiness until only recently.
Re 22:15 For without [are] dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.
So what hope is there for homosexuals? Can they be saved? Fortunately the answer is ‘Yes!’ Jesus came to save sinners and all who call on his name can be saved. When Jesus forgave the sins of the woman taken in adultery (another death penalty sin) He said ‘Go and sin no more’.
John 8:10-AV When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?
John 8:11-AV She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.
Homosexuality is a sin of the flesh just as is adultery and drunkenness. No one while they persist in remaining active in their sin can enter Heaven. However if such as sin seek forgiveness of Jesus He will grant it. He will also provide the strength needed to break away from the sin. Just as the drunkard can abstain from alcohol so can the homosexual abstain from further sexual contact of that nature. We have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God and require the salvation of Jesus to enter his kingdom.
Probably one of the greatest obstacles for homosexuals in realizing their ‘state of sin’ is the vast volume of literature, medical opinion, social acceptance and even government legislation supporting the ‘normalcy’ of homosexualism. Acceptance of the condition by some churches also does nothing to help. I can but wonder how they (church leaders) can rationalize away the plain statements in the bible on this topic.
Fortunately there is also a strong Christian movement titled ‘Ex-Gay Ministries’ who offer help of a specialist nature to homosexuals who realize their sinful position and are seeking a cure.
Should any reader have missed the point I repeat it here again. God loves you and there is nothing you can do that will stop Him from loving you. There is also nothing you can do to earn God’s love. It is a free and unconditional gift. He does however, hate sin, and if a sinner fails to repent and seek forgiveness God will have no choice but to add that person to the ‘lake of fire’. When we do repent, we will be forgiven, no matter what our sin. But don’t forget the words of Jesus “Go, and sin no more”
The Bible tells how God feels about the gay lifestyle. Anyone who knows the Word, know what happen to Sodom and Gomorrah. Lev. 18:22 clearly states the law, and even though we are under grace the law does not change. God loves sinner but not the sin. There is only one way to get into heaven and that is to except Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. So, if that person has confessed their sin and asked the Lord to come into their heart, then they have done what is required. If they desire to be delivered from that lifestyle then the Lord will do it. Being gay is no different from anyother sin. SIN IS SIN. The Lord knows their hearts.
Scriptural references: Lev. 18:22, Romans 1:26-27, 1 Tim.1:10 and Gen. 18-19:29.
Although society says this sin is ok, it is not acceptable to God according to His word.
Many Gays and lesbians are heartbroken that this separates them from God. While working with them I was led to speak to them about celibacy. This gave many of them hope that they finally had a way that they could become right with God.
Mary _______________
”Whosoever will let him come” - “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to CLEANSE us from ALL unrighteousness.”
All of us are sinners, born that way, and all of us have strong inclinations to sin. ANY of us can be saved because Jesus loves each of us enough to die in our place even if we are the only one in the whole world to accept His sacrifice.
Of course, gays and lesbians will be in heaven, just like the rest of us sinners, if we believe in the Lord as Saviour and allow Him to cleanse us and live out His life in us. Our salvation depends on our believing Him, accepting that He is Someone Who loves us so much He will never let go of our hand, of letting NOTHING between us and our Saviour.
It is not what we DO, but WHO we know, in a saving relationship of love, that assures us a place with Christ for eternity. Christ has ALREADY paid the penalty for all our sins, no matter what they are, the most heinous ones you can think of - they are already paid for. His offer, His gift is eternal life - what a wonderful Saviour!!
Oh, yes!
Let’s rejoice and praise Him
A clean heart is not our final goal
Matthew 12:44
As we can see, a clean heart is not the goal. It will not stay clean for much longer if the Holy Spirit doesn’t move in.
The goal is so that the Holy Spirit would live in our hearts. He lives only in a clean heart so our hearts still need to be clean but by living in our hearts he is able to guide us in such a way to keep our hearts clean always.
God calls us to be Spirit filled and the scriptures give us specific ways of how to do that. Do you know what those ways are? What are you practically doing to be Spirit filled and to let the Holy Spirit work in you heart freely as He pleases?
If you don’t, why not? Isn’t this of upmost importance to you as a follower of Christ to be Spirit filled? Please dive into the scripture and prayer to find out how you can be Spirit filled. (By the way reading scripture and prayer, are both ways of how to be Spirit filled, but there is more.)
Remember, having a clean heart is not our final goal, keeping it clean is. And that is only possible when the Holy Spirit lives in it.
Serving god does make us very rich if we are satisfied with what we have we brought nothing into the world so we can take nothing out
